Changes to the assets and other updates


Decided I didn't like the amount of work it took to implement the Sunnyside assets into the game, so I took a prototype character asset I had and used that for the beginning stages of this development. I also overhauled the net code I was writing to make it more efficient. I also found a suitable, but jank, voice chat plugin for GMS. I got it working with a proximity volume adjustment.  

Goals for this week:

  • Implement a basic attack (sword slash)
    • Pri 1
  • Player Inventory
    • Pri 3
  • Get 1 or 2 enemy types added:
    • Basic Moblin type creature.
    • Basic jumper?
    • Have them sync with the server and clients.
    • Pri 3
  • Complete an example dungeon.
    • Pri 2
  • Maybe change the starting area to be the deck of a dirigible (airship).
  • Add in interactable world objects:
    • Sign posts.
    • Switches
    • Locked Doors
  • Add in collectible and usable items:
    • Valuable items
      • Coins
      • Jewels
      • Items that do nothing but hold value.
    • Key
    • Bombs?
    • Pri 3

Goals for the future:

  • Randomize the dungeons
    • Find a way to make them make sense.
  • Equipped player items.
    • Can't attack unless you have a sword.
  • Useable item ideas:
    • Basic Map
    • Enchanted Map
      • Shows player locations
    • Voice amplifier
      • Megaphone
    • Teleport potion
      • Teleport bomb?
